Battery impedance vs Q curve

Question about battery impedance vs BAT capability.

  1. When BAT capability is low, what is the impedance? small or large?
  2. Is the impedance curve like a smile? or Mountain?
  3. Why we have to use small current to pre-charge?
  • Marco,

The series resistance will increase as the battery is cycled and this will cause the effective capacity of the cell to decrease.

The Impedance Track algorithm will check the resistance at grid points as the cell is discharged and it will update the Ra-table at each grid point. The algorithm will use this data to fine tune the Remaining and Full Charge capacities at the grid points.

Depleted cells need to be charged at a lower current to prevent overheating inside the cell that can lead to damage and reduce lifetime.
