Dear all,

I am a student, and I am a beginer user of fuel gauge sensors. I have 4 cell Li-polymer battery the votage up to 8 volts, and I want to moniter the power consumption of the battery by microcontroller using I2c communication. Please, could you help me to find a better choice of the fuel gauge Ic or which type of the Ics is good for my problem.

Hello Hussien,

The bq20z45 or bq20z65 can monitor up to 4s lithium polymer cell. For info on their usage, refer to the user guide, the TRM and the app notes available on the product folder of the devices.

Hello Onyx,

Thank you very much for your answer. Those two Ics have big size and that will make a big problem in my project as well as they do not have I2c communication. Could you help me to find other options, please?

They can be used on an I2C bus. You will just have to maintain the timing characteristics/protocol of SMBus specs. You may also want to look into the bq34z1xx series. These support 1-16 s
