Can I only use phase shifted switching pulse generation of UCC 28950

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28950

Dear All,

We are designing power converter of 200W wherein the regulated voltage reference is changing at a rate of 1 second. We are using UCC28950 but we are not using its feedback loop nor cycle by cycle current limit features. Can we use UCC 28950 for just generating the phase shifted switching pulses for four primary switches of the converter. What precautions need to be taken care of to operate this ICs just for generating pulses.

Please help us.

Thanks and Regards

Mohd Afroz Akhtar

  • You can use this device open loop.  Be careful because the voltage amplifier output is noise sensitive.

Recommend setting the error amp up in a voltage follower and put a voltage divider on the EA + pin.  Feed the control voltage into the divider.

Also set up the UCC28950 as voltage mode control.  Instructions for that can be found in the data sheet.
