LP2985-N Bypass

Hello

Although the improvement of the noise characteristic is considered,

to how much [ maximum ] is the capacitor put into Bypass possible?

Moreover, when a large capacitor is put in, is there any parameter

which becomes a problem in another characteristic?

  • The Bypass capacitor value has a direct effect on first time Turn-On Time.

There is no meaningful reduction in output noise with a Cbypass value larger than 10nF, as such I personally would not recommend, nor have I characterized, any value larger than 100nF. Any value larger than 100nF would be using the bypass pin outside of the intended noise reduction function.

My estimation is that as long as the capacitance leakage is not excessive (<< 100 nA), the bypass capacitor should eventually charge and the output voltage will rise to the specified value.
