If you can kindly suggest a design to get 16-18 volt d.c output 12 Amp from d.c input varying from 10 to 14 volt d.c.

I suggest trying the SwitcherPro design tool, available online at https://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/switcherpro.html?DCMP=hpa_tools&HQS=Tools+OT+switcherpro. The TPS40210 controller, plus external FETs, is one IC that should be able to provide the output power you need.
