Difference between FOD and PMOD

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ500212A

Hello,

can you explain me the difference between PMOD and FOD?

Thanks for your help.

Christian

  • Also see additional info regarding PMOD and FOD in the TX data sheet, bq500212A.

Both will compare the power sent to the RX with power the RX reports that it has received.  If the difference exceeds a threshold a fault is set.

    PMOD—Will support WPC 1.0 RX

    FOD—Will support WPC 1.1 RX

In WPC 1.0 RX there is not requirement for the accuracy of the received power or accounting for losses in friendly metal.  This will result in less accurate performance of the PMOD function.

In WPC 1.1 FOD is required and the RX received power accuracy is required.  As part of this friendly metal loss are added in with received power.
