CSD17559Q5 / specification of body diode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD17559Q5, LM5050-2

Hi Team,

Our customer need to know the specification of body diode of CSD17559Q5 as below.

1, Ta vs Pd (Safe Operating Area)

2, Surge current Rating

Our customer need to know these information because they will use CSD17559Q5 with LM5050-2, so they are assuming short failure of load circuit.

Best Regards,

  • Hello Satoshi-san,

    The max power of the device is calculated assuming Ta of 25 and max device junction temperature of 150. From there it is just a function of thermal impedance (highly dependent on the conditions of the board being used).

    Pd = (Max Tj - Ta)/Ztheta

    Thus you can see that the allowed amount of dissipated power will scale linearly with the ambient temperature.

    The surge current rating of the internal body diode will be the same as the forward biased current ratings. Thus max Id is the same, regardless of which direction you are going. Make sense?

  • Hi Brett-san,

    I appreciate for your response.

    I understand that the allowable Pd can be calcuated by the formura you provided and the actual Pd can be calcuated with VSD (1Vmax) and Id.

    And also I understand that the surge current rating of the internal body diode is the same with ID in ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM RATINGS.

    Best Regards,

    Sonoki
