Using A5 coil with BQ500110EVM-688

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ500110EVM-688, BQ500110, BQ500211, BQ500410

Hello,

I have an BQ500110EVM-688  with its original A1 Tx coil connected to it.  I also have  an A5  coil that needs to be tested under power. If I  remove the A1  coil ,connect the A5  coil to the board and change the resonating caps accordingly (L =6uH) , would this system perform well under power?

Thank you

I do NOT recommend this configuration.  The bq500110 is an early WPC TX IC designed to support a 19V A1 type system.  The A5 coil is a 5V input system.

It would be best to use a 5V TX design, bq500211 / 211A or 212A.

Also adding a boost converter to the input for bq500110 would work.  Take a look at the bq500410 EVM.  That 5V to 12V design can probably be scaled up to 19V output.
