BQ24133 Not working

Hi,

I am having problem in Battery Charger functionality. I have attached my circuit. Below are my observation:

Battery Voltage: 3.7V (Single Cell)

VREF: 3.79V (Pin 12)

OVPSET (Pin 18): 0.65V

AC_SET(Pin17): 1.52V

AVCC (Pin 4): 5.0V

ISET (Pin13):  0.45V

TS (pin 10): 1.75V

PVCC(Pin2 &3): 4.5V

REGN (Pin20) : 0.10V

SRP (Pin15) : 3.8V

SRN (Pin 16): 3.8V

BTST (Pin21) : 3.54V

SW(Pin1 &24): 3.8V

BATDRV(pin19): 4.54V (Not used in the design, Testpoint)

TTC (Pin11) : 0.5V

All the above voltages are with Ground reference.

I am very new to Battery charger and not sure why the Charging is not taking place.

I am not able to understand why the REGN is not in right level and also VREF pin is 3.8V not 3.3V

Thank you for your kind attention and immediate response.

Sincerely,

Rajendra..

  • Can you attach a schematic and scope waveforms of all the DC values you listed along with the switch node. I would first start off with at least a 6.5V input lab supply and get the circuit working.

The VREFshould not be over 3.3V, so it makes me think that something is ringing, that is why scope shots are helpful.

  • Dear Charles,

Thank you for your response. I have attached the schematics in my first post. Please let men know whether you are able to view that or not. Un-fortunately I do not have scope right now in my lab.

All the values provided is measured using multimeter.

Please let me know whether we can still proceed with solving the issue.

    Thank you again.

    Sincerely,

    Rajendra.

  • I would make sure you are using ceramic caps (X5R or X7R) for all input and output caps.

You are at a great disadvantage if you do not have a scope.  It is almost impossible to trouble shoot without a scope.
