Chemistry Selection

The Mathcad file in sluc138 is not compatible with the newer version of Mathcad from PTC because TI have locked & hidden areas in the sheet.

I'm not quite sure why TI want to hide part of the calculation for the Chemistry? Has anyone managed to convert this script to the Mathcad Prime version?

Could TI please update the script to the newer Mathcad versions or supply the lock password so that we can do it for ourselves.

Thanks.

  • Mathcad Prime is not an improvement to Mathcad 15, since it does not support all functions of previous versions. It appears to be an attempt by PTC to redo the base to save some licensing costs, unfortunately resulting in compromised performance. Even after Mathcad Prime 2 release it still does not have full functionality of original mathcad 15. For this reason, Mathcad 15 worksheet that use full functionality can not run on Prime. It is not possible to convert it because of missing functions.

Luckily PTC is distributing Mathcad 15 with its Prime distribution so you should be able to install it and use it to run our worksheet.

  • Using sluc138bn.zip (or sluc138bm.zip) without any changes, I find that if I load chemselect_cont_mcd11_rev36.mcd in MathCad 15 and run Calculate on the worksheet with the default example file and no changes, I find that chemdat_status, chemdat_rev, bestchem, maxerr and generr are all unset.

Graphs and values ahead of chemdat_status appear to have credible values.

I had assumed this was some sort of incompatibility with intermediate versions of MathCad, but perhaps not, if you are recommending version 15.

Is the a problem with the default example or are there some additional steps that I haven't noted?

  • Mathcad is backward compatible up to version 15, so all previous version worksheets will work.

You might have had a problem because recently DB file pm the web that the worksheet is using was temporarily taken

off-line. It is fixed no, so you could try it again. If you see chemdat_rev, the DB file is loaded correctly.

  • Er, well... it's not working this morning so perhaps your database is broken again?

Could you indicate what the web address of this facility is, or a web page advertising it's status?

Sadly these elements seem to be hidden on the MathCad worksheet in a locked section so there is absolutely nothing I can do to debug the problem myself, unless you are willing to release the password for this section?

  • Joe,

I just checked and DB is working. Please re-check.

If there is still a problem, please indicate what are the symptoms? What is getting red?

    Regards,
    Yevgen

  • No, still not working. As mentioned earlier, chemdat_status, chemdat_rev, bestchem, maxerr and generr are all unset (red).

I emphasise that this is with the default demonstration data, not my own. There are no mods of any sort.

A Wireshark log shows some transaction with a Mathsoft DAV client at TI with respect to /lit/sw/sluc469/sluc469.tm, but I cannot decode much of the (encrypted) responses. The transactions all look too small to contain a whole file - only about 2K bytes in total.

One of the responses does contain the string "TSM not supported" if this is any sort of hint?
