TPS2065DBV spec and application question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2065

Dear Sir

Good days,

May we check with you what is Overcurrent trip threshold?

from DS page 4 Ios(1.1A~1.9A),Ioc_TRIP(1.6A~2.1A), are these two different?

We have test TPS2065 Ios, but output current have auto re-try condition. not like DS Figure 8.

Is it is normal? or we loss something?

                                                                                           Best regards,

                                                                                                           Bogey

  • The current limiting topology used in this part will tend to have the over-current trip point be gretaer than or equal to the short circtuit (regulating) current.  Ioc >= Ios.  Looking at the conditions for these, you see that for Ioc, the current is ramped up at a controlled rate until limiting occurs.  Ioc is the current at which the internal switch transitions from ON to regulating current.  For Ios, the short circuit current is measured.  Ios is the actively regulating value of the current limit.

Once in short circuit the part will get heat rapidly and begin thermal cycling around the thermal shutdown and its hysteresis.  No doubt the time scales between Figure 8 and your picture are very different.  See the "Thermal Protection" section.
