bq24600 Minimum Vinput

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24600

Greetings,
I am using the bq24600 in an application of charging 4S2P Lithium Ion 18650 cells. My charge current is 2A. My pack charging voltage is 16.8V

What is the minimum input voltage in order to guarantee proper charge regulation (CC/CV)?

Thanks,

Jon

  • I would use at least 18V minimum.  One could go lower but then one might get into the pulse skipping.  It depends on the layout trace impedance and load level.  It will continue to work at inputs above the battery votlage, but the waveforms may become irratic as the duty cycle tries to go above 97%.

  • Hi Charles,
    Thank you for your reply.

Why does the datasheet specify a duty cycle of 99.5%? I have definitely successfully charged with an input voltage down to 17.3V but did not see a spec for minimum input voltage.
