How to disable bq24160?

I am using bq24160 in one of my projects. with valid input source and presence of battery , the charger will start charging without I2c Commumication (i mean in default mode). So i want to disable the charger alone but still internal DC-DC converter must be ON in default mode . So can use CD pin to do this ? if  NO , can you please suggest any ideas?

    All the versions will start charge if V(BAT) <3.6V.  The /CD pin puts the device in HiZ mode, disabling the buck converter, when pulled high. You can add an external PMOS in between the battery and the BAT pin that only connects the battery to the BAT pin when you want to charge by providing a signal to the PMOS gate.
