EV2200 Interface Board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2050H

Hi,

I am in the process of developing a mobile medical application using Horner XL6e HE-XL1E5 Controller. The Controller unit and the auxiliary equipments are powered by one of Texas Instrument Gas Gauge IC Battery Pack, BQ2050H. Everything works fine and the Battery Pack works as desired. We are, however, required to obtain the Battery Pack critical parameters such as the NACH, LMD and so on and make them available to the Horner Controller unit for the battery status display and further processing as required.

We have decided to achieve this by using the EV2200 Interface Board which will connect and communicate directly to the Battery Back and will provide the parameters’ values in a format accessible via its RS232 communication port. The whole system works fine when we connect the Interface Board to the PC and run the EV2200 Evaluation Software. All the parameters are polled and displayed on the Interface Software.

In order for us to simulate the above on the Horner Controller unit, we need to connect the EV2200 Interface Board to the Horner unit via one of its available RS232 ports and then simulate the polling action of the parameters in the same manner as it is done on the EV2200 Interface software. To achieve this we require to know the communication parameters such as the Baud Rate, Parity, Data Bits, Stop Bit(s), Handshaking and so on so that we can set them on the Horner unit as required. In addition we require to know the format of the commands to read each individual parameter. At this moment I am not sure if the same format as described in the BQ2050H documentation (such as sending 03h to receive the parameter NACH) is still valid and will work. I have tried to read the parameters from the Interface Board serial port via Hyper Terminal applications with no joy as there are no reference in the EV2200 Interface Board with regards the communication settings and the commands format.

I would appreciate if someone could assist me in achieving the above task.

Thank you very much for your support.
