230V ac power switch using MOSFET

Hai All,

I want to know about 230V AC switch. I am developing a project related to controlling lights and fans from PIC microcontroller. I want to use a power MOSFET or Triac for the project for switching. cane you provide the following

1. which MOSFET/Triac can I use for this circuit?

2. what all transisters needed for the circuit?

3. and a simple circuit diagram?

At 230Vin AC, what is your output voltage and current?

Output voltage is 230V and current may be 2A and above.

My project is to control one electric heater, 500W light and a exhaust fan using PIC family microcontroller through a power electronic component such as MOSFET, Triac, A/c switch or SCR with simplest circuit as possible.

Can u guide which power electronic component is useful for controlling and drive the devices above.

Prasanth,

I'm not sure I can help you on this one. Have you considered a topology yet? What is your input voltage?

Regardless, it sounds like you will require a fairly high voltage transistor (>600V) for this application, and unfortunately the highest voltage MOSFET TI offers at this time is 100V.
