TPS40210 RC pin maximum rating when device is disable condition

There is a possibility that Vin and VDD voltage rise up to 40V.

RC pin is connected to VDD pin through the resistor and capacitor.

When device is enable, RC pin is charged to a level of approximately VDD/20.

So RC pin input voltage is not over the maximum rating 10V.

How about the device disable condition?

I'm concerned that RC pin input voltage is over maximum rating because device operation stop.

In that case, is the external protection circuit needed like a zener diode?

  • Hi Kohei,

The RC pin of the TPS40210 is self-clamping below 10V and can support a source voltage greater than 52V when the minimum recommended RC resistor (100kOhms) is selected.  (sink current < 500uA) This sinking current is present when the device is disabled.

Let me know if you have any questions.
