Hello,

I would like to know Vout timing in the Mode Change of the TPS2544.
Please see the attached file as my questions.

There are two timing of Vout_1 and Vout_2.
Could you please let me know the timing of either of Vout1 and Vout2 is correct?

Best Regards,
Ryuji Asaka

  • Assuem CDP (1111), DCP (0111), when the CTL1 pull low? If during the disable, Vout_1 is correct.

  • Hi Milo Zhu san,

    Thank you for the reply. I understood that Vout_1 is correct.

    I understood that TDCHG: 1.3-2.9s(datasheet P.3) is hold time of the Mode change durning the Enable state.
    Thus, we don't consider TDHG time when EN tied Low at the same time of mode change.
    Is my understanding correct ?

    And , our customer use DCP BC 1.2 mode. Thus, mode change states are as following.
    CDP(1,1,1,1) ---> DCH(0,0,0,1) ---> DCP(1,0,0,1) or
    DCP(1,0,0,1) ---> DCH(0,0,0,1) ---> CDP(1,1,1,1)

  • Hello Milo Zhu san,

    Sorry for bothering you, but could I have your comment  please ?

  • CDP(1,1,1,1) ---> DCH(0,0,0,1) ---> DCP(1,0,0,1) or
    DCP(1,0,0,1) ---> DCH(0,0,0,1) ---> CDP(1,1,1,1)

    From CDP to DCP has 2s discharge, when DCP back to CDP has 310ms discharge, now in your applicaiton, add a disable or DCH (0001) as discharge  right? But why use the deticated discharge timer? In addition, now, what's your biggest concern?

  • Hello Mio Zhu san,

    Yes, I add the disable or DCH.
    I think that we need Discharge(0001) for mode change from the Figure 30device operation.
    Our customer would like to change the mode before the discharge timer 2s.

    CDP(1,1,1,1) ---> DCH(0,0,0,1) ---> DCP(1,0,0,1)  --->  need 2s for Discharge
    CDP(1,1,1,1) ---> Disable --->Enable and  DCP(1,0,0,1)  ---> we don't consider Discharge timer(2s), we can change mode before the 2s.

    Ryuji Asaka
  • So you shorten the 2s discharge time from CDP to DCP,  and using Disalbe, then fast enable (< 2s), right?

    First, why you need shorten the mode change discharge time? The 2s discharge time is our recommend.

    If you really shorten the discharget time, the configuration looks fine, but you must make sure the CTL pins finish low/high change during the disable.

  • Hello Milo Zhu san,

    Thank you for the reply.
    Our customer rule of discharge time is 1s+/- 200ms( 0.8s to 1.2s) .
    Thus, they need shorten the mode change time.
