Hi,
I'd like to have a discussion of a noise problem we are having with these modules. We use this in the vicinity of some low noise circuits and have a fair amount of power supply noise in our signals. I think a good portion of this is radiated. The noise gets signifianctly worse when we place the system in a metal enclosure. We were able to recover the open air noise performance by placing copper shields of the regulators.
We would like to not need those shields and also to increase our noise performance beyond what we get now. I am looking at several things:
1. Some of the modules are constructed with un-shielded inductors. Though I don't like doing this we are not above replacing those with shielded inductors if we know the relevant paramters. the inductor PN is not apparent on the module and I could remove one and characterize it, but having the data avaialble would be better. Can we get specs on the PTH08T230W inductor?
We also use the PTH08T240W module as well, which does have a shilded inductor, but the shielding does not fully enclose as much as it could.
2. I am also looking at replacing these with LMZ31520 or similar regulators. These do not have a PSsync function, but may still be better. Is there any way I can get in contact to have a discussion about these tradeoffs with one of your power experts? The boards we are doing cost over $7K each so it's nice to have as much info as possible before doing a board spin.
Thanks,
David B
