LP8557 / Software reset and Power on reset

Hi,

I think there are 2 choices to reset all registers of LP8557I.

One is to write RESET bit(0x00h D7) and the other is to recycle VDD(Power on reset).

Is there any difference in the state of device after these reset?

My customer concerned about that, so your support would be appreciate.

Is there any difference between the state after software reset and the state after POR?

Yaita-san,

There is no significant difference between the states of the device after POR and software RESET.

After POR, all device registers are reset. After software RESET, all registers are reset except the I2C protocol block. This was done for the simplicity of the design. There is no negative impact to the device functionality.

I apprehend that all registers below aren't I2C protocol block and these register are all reset after software RESET.

Is my understanding is correct?

Yaita-san,

Your understanding is correct. All registers listed in the datasheet reset to the same values regardless of whether a POR or Software reset is executed.
