AM3352 with battery / supercap backup for DDR3

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Hello Team,

I am looking for some information on if it is possible to use a battery or supercap to backup DDR3 on an am3352.

the main concerns are:

  • Power sequencing when power is turned back on
  • does the CPU power plane need to be isolated? (1.5 V going to the DDR3 interface on the CPU as well as the DDR device)

Has anything of this sort been documented for the am335x or other processors?

The teams insight is greatly apprechiated!

best,

Saqib

  • Some additional information.

The DDR is being used to save a few KB of data which is being generated frequently. In the case of a power failure this data should not be lost. So either the DDR3 needs be kept alive long enough to ensure a power failure, or keep the entire CPU/DDR3 sub-system alive long enough to store the data to non-volatile storage.

Any insight on this would be apprechiated.
