LM3447 close proximity brightness control?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3447

We are using the LM3447 in an application that should start production in the very near future.  We are considering the possibility of adding a new feature and I’m wondering what level of feasibility this has.

Would it be possible to provide local brightness adjustment?  What I mean by this is that normally the fixture will be installed on a circuit with a dimmer, however, if the product is installed on a non-dimming circuit, we would like to allow for the user to be able to adjust the circuit dimming right at the fixture location.

Is this at all possible with the LM3447?  Is it possible to adjust the feed forward value with a potentiometer to accomplish this?

I believe that there are some other semiconductor manufacturers that have an added input for doing this type of thing, but at this stage of our product development, we don’t want to change drivers and start all over.  Any ideas how I can keep using the same driver and accomplish this?  Any feedback or input on this is welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks again!

Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Maybe you can try Bluetooth to control the brightness of the bulb. A few of our customers have tried this method by adjusting the external circuit of the TSNS pin such that users can do remote control.

However, some more components are needed.

    Thanks.
