TPS54040/TPS54140

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54140, TPS54040

Hi

Our customer consider this device. And we got some question about this device.

This device have Eco-mode which switching pulse skips at light-load condition.

How can we calculate the threshold of the output current when the pulse-skip occur?

Please give us the calculating formula.

Regards,

Koji

  • In general it is not possible to calculate the eco-mode threshold.  Most devices use switch current zero crossing which is easy to calculate.  The TPS54040 and TPS54140 enter eco-mode when the COMP pin voltage reaches its lower clamp voltage.  The absolute value of peak switch current to COMP pin voltage is not specified, only the rate of change (GMPS).
