Qi solution for 2s li-ion battery (wireless 2-cell battery charger) ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2057, BQ2057T, BQ51221, BQ51010B

Hi, guys.

I'm searching a solution for wireless 2p2s (2 series) Li-ion battery charger.

I found Ti has well-organized solutions for wireless power transfer system. (http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/power-management/wireless-power-receiver-solutions-overview.page)

However, I think all of these solutions are for 1 cell battery because output voltages are 4.2 V. I'm developing a device that uses 2p2s Li-ion battery, so I need wireless 2s battery charger solution.

To do that, I'm searching for a way to use an additional charger for 2s battery like bq2057 (http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/bq2057t.pdf), but Ti's Qi solutions' output voltage is limited to use it.

If anybody has a idea to charge 2s li-ion battery easily, please let me know.

Thank you very much.

  • My apologies for the delayed response.

TI offers a few solutions that are able to do more than 4.2V / 4.35V.  The bq51010B is a wireless power supply that produces a 7V constant output.  The newly released bq51221 is a wireless power supply that has an adjustable output of 4.5V to 8.0V.  Perhaps one of these could be investigated for your solution.

What is the power level of your requirement?
