Supplying +5V bus fron single cell boost dc/dc and USB

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV61220, TPS61222

Hello,

I am trying to create +5V dc bus that can supplied by a number of sources including +5V USB port and LiIon coin cell boosted to +5V. This can be easily done with diode-ORing but I don't want to take the efficiency/cost hit.

Is it possible to connect +5V to low cost dc/dc converter outputs without damage? Does it matter for synch. vs. diode output boost stage? The non-synchronous designed should have diode in series.

I am thinking about the low cost TLV61220.

Any suggestions are welcome,

Thanks

    Hi David

yes, you can use TLV61220 in the application. you could also consider fixed 5V device TPS61222, the feedback resistor is not needed and good output voltage accuracy.

what is the output current in your application? I'm worried about the current limit of this device.

    thanks
