UCC2818 Frequency Relationship

Hello,

I have a customer that would like to know what the relationship is between the operating frequency and the drive frequency for the UCC2818.

Can somebody help with this?

    Hello Jim,

    If I had to guess I would say the the operating frequency has to do with the internal clock frequency while the drive frequency is related to gate drive frequency.

    Do you have specific passages in the datasheet that you could refer to help clarify your question?

    Hello Ryan,

    I presented your answer to the customer and this is his response:

    "The question was the relationship between oscillator frequency and frequency of pwm coming out of the ucc2818? I mean are they equal or half or………..
     
    When I look at the internal diagram ,they look equal but I want to make sure"

    Hello Jim,

    Looking through the datasheet on the first page it states that the frequency can range from 6kHz - 220kHz which appears to be referring PWM frequency range.

    The oscillator frequency runs in a constant range of frequencies detailed on Pg. 4 of the data seen in the snippet below.

    The PWM frequency is variable based on the interaction of the oscillator and CLK signals going into the PWM latch which is determined by the resistor and capacitor values attached to RT and CT.
