An equivalent ciruit of TPS79850 and TPS7A1601

Is there an equivalent circuit of TPS79850 and TPS7A1601 ?

Customers are seemed to want to calculate San effect  on their environment testing in advance.

  • Hi Taichi,

    According to the respective datasheets, the pin outs are similar between the two devices.  As you can see below, TPS7A1601 has some extra functionality on pins that are NC for TPS79850-Q1.  

     TPS79850-Q1 TPS7A1601

    As such, circuits that work for TPS7A1601 should be adequate for TPS79850-Q1.  Please note that TPS7A1601 requires a larger output capacitor as well.

    You can use TPS7A1601EVM-046 as a reference for schematic and layout.

    Could you tell me whether a constitution of TPS79850,TPS7A1601,LM9076 and LM317M is CMOS or bipolar ?

  • Hi Taichi,

    You typically can find this kind of information in the functional block diagram if not stated in the text of the datasheet.  For example, TPS7A1601 is CMOS and the functional block diagram indicates a FET.

    Do you know closely about LM9076,LM317 ? Datasheets on LM9076,LM317 are not listed block diagram.

    The statement"The pass element of the regulator is a PNP device which requires an output bypass capacitor for stability." is written on LM9076 datasheet P10 so I think LM9076 is bipolar.

    However LM317M datasheet isn' t written about constitution.

  • Yes, LM9076 is Bipolar, with PNP pass element.

    There are several varities of "LM317", and I am not familiar with the specific internals for the LM317M.

    Based on two (2) operating parameters in the LM317M datasheet I believe that it is same as the LM317-N.

          1) VI – VO = 3 V to 40 V

          2) Minimum load current to maintain regulation : 3.5mA (typ) 10 mA(max)

    The structure for the LM317-N is Bipolar, with NPN pass element.
