TPS2490 - Maximum nets length for measuring RSENSE

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2490

Dear all,

The datasheet does not communicate information regarding restrictions on the lengths of measuring tracks across RSENSE. On our design we have two nets with a lengths about 45mm. Is there a restriction on the net connection between RSENSE and TPS2490 ?

Best regards.

  • Philippe,

The datasheet indirectly discusses this by recommending to place the IC as close as possible to RSENSE and the external FET. Typically, traces to VCC and SENSE should be short and run side-by-side to maximize common-mode rejection. Kelvin connections should be used directly at the pins of RSENSE. I recommend you look at the TPS2490EVM as an example layout. I measured the traces to be about 13mm.
