change input range of LM5022 Boost LED Driver from 10 to 14 Volt to 6 to 14Volt

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5022

Dear All,

We have design LM5022 Boost LED Driver as per Application Note AN-1605 also see link below for reference and this application use for LED drive it is work with Vin input form 10 to 14 Volt.and we have got 48 Volt with 1 Amp out put and we are use as 48watt LED drive and work fine.

http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snva282b/snva282b.pdf

but we have to change Input voltage range from 6 to 15 Volt Vin input.

so please any one can give me idea or suggestion for change in design as per above design, how to reduce input range with Vin minimum from 6 volt to 15 Volt?.

Also we have applied 7Volt in Vin pin and this moment LED is OFF and LM5022 is should down and measured voltage out put around ~6,7 to 7 not 48Volt.

pls give me your valuable feed back for change input range.

Thanks.

Regards,

Alpesh.

  • Hello Alpesh,

As your input voltage goes down the current needed from the input to continue to generate the 48V @ 1A output increases. You might be hitting your current limit which causes the FET to stop switching leaving you with the input connect to the output through the inductor and the diode which would give an output voltage that is slightly less than the input voltage.

With the reduction in the input voltage you will have to look into adjusting your current limit setting and possibly resize you inductor to handle the new current and increase your inductance.

I would recommend going to the LM5022 product page and look at the right side of hte page and enter your design into the WEBENCH tool to see what you current limit resistors are set for and what your inductor and input and output capacitors are sized to.

  • Hi Ryan,

    Thanks for your feedback.

We will check this design in webench and give you result as soon .
