Regualtory Requirements for Wireless Charger

I recently got a shock when asking a lab for testing requirements for a wireless charger. Just for use in the US, and not including the WPC/Qi compatibility, I am being told I need:

Part 15B
Part 18
FCC Inquiry KDB 680106
SAR Testing (Maybe depending on opinion in #3)
Safety UL 60950-1

All total there's over 40K in outside lab expenses. Is this typical? Does anyone else have a better experience to share?

The question you pose is a bit outside the scope of this forum.

If you have specific questions about Qi certification you can contact one of the approved labs at the WPC web site.

....and that's just the beginning. The FDA is looking into regulating wireless power so it won't interfere with implanted medical devices like cardiac pacemakers, deep brain stimulators, and the like. Add FCC KDB 680106 D01 v02 and this may has more info: www.metlabs.com/.../
