BQ24032 battery remove and insert issue

Hi

My customer have a issue about BQ24032.

When the charger is in constant voltage mode, charging current is decreasing with DC adaptor.

(Charge current is not reached to termination current)

Remove the battery and insert battery then didn't charging.

But, When DC adaptor remove and connect to set. Then charging continously.

This situation same happened with BQ24032-EVM.

They want to fully charge the battery when remove and insert battery.

Their schemetic as below.

  • Hi,

using an unmodified EVM, I cannot reproduce this behavior in our labs, neither in constant current nor constant voltage mode.

Could you perhaps give us more information how both pins, STAT1 and STAT2, behave?

    Thanks and regards
    Martin

  • Hi! Kim

"When the charger is in constant voltage mode, charging current is decreasing with DC adaptor."

    I think it is corrected.

My concept is the battery has internal resistance(not AC impedance).

In CV mode the different level between battery & charger(4.2V) is decreasing.

Also, the charging circuit is need some megain between Vin(adaptor in) to battery(4.2). e.g 4.5v or higher.

If under this level, there will directly affect charging current.

    For cycle charging issue.

Could you move the 10kohm (R188) to battery pack side?

It may help to detect battery while insert again.
