BQ24160 not using data lines

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24160

Hello,

What happens if i float or short the D+/D- lines, ie if i don’t want to use D+/D- detection at all, would i still be able to set the Charge Current via I2C? I saw in one of the forums that the device will check for shorts/opens in the data lines.I want to try to keep it simple where you connect a USB cable and the BQ24160 just starts charging at some low current, say, 100mA and then our software would do a i2C write to set it to 500mA.

Your help is greatly appreciated!
