TPS73233

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: REG104

Hello,

I'm using TPS73233 for a embedded application.

TSP73233 is powered by a Li-po battery and supply :

 - µC

 - switched power for INA33 and DC/DC regulator.

DC/DC regulator is a step up 3.3 => 24Vdc, 60mA input current. When this part is connected, TPS73233 output has load dump and µC turn to reset.

I placed 10nF feedback capacitor, 1µF input capacitor,  and 10µF output capacitor.

How can I reduce load dump ? TPS73233 may have no problem to feed 0 => 60mA current increase.

Can you help me ?

Thanks,

Aymeric

  • Hi Aymeric,

From the LDO perspective, the load dump is a fast transient.  The way to reduce the affects of the load dump is to increase the capacitors in order to slow the transient.

When you mention the 10nF feedback capacitor, do you meant that the capacitor is on the NR pin or is your application laid out differently?  The fixed voltage TPS73233 does not have a feedback pin.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan

  • Dear,

Yes, 10nF is the NR pin, feedback is not the right term.

In fact, TPS73233 is internaly limited at 250mA, the current on load transcient increase above 250mA, outpuu cut-off.

So I replaced TPS73233 by REG104 (same package and pinout) that cut at 1A.

    Regards,

    Aymeric
