Lipo Battery 24V to 12V ,5v and 3.3v

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2596, LM2670, LM22670

I have Lipo battery 24V . In my application, I want to step-down 12V 2.5A , 5V 1.5A and 3.3v 1A .

So,

1. Can i use 3 LM2596 fixed 12V, 5v ,3.3v  ?

2. What solution is good for me?

3. Could you explain benefit of  Freq. Synchronization feature? (exampe LM2670)

  • Hello,

You could use Webench to figure out what solution would be better. The LM2596 and LM2670 are members of the Simple Switcher family and are very easy to use. They are both fully supported on Webench and have electrical and thermal simulations available. There are also newer members of this family that are available. The LM22670 e.g. is also capable of doing everything that the LM2670 can and it has a higher switching frequency which will help minimize the BOM size.

Frequency synchronization means that you can synchronize the clock of one device with an external clock instead of setting the frequency using a timing resistor. This way you have one frequency of operation.

    I hope this helps.
