I'm trying to read ROM file from bq34z110 as described in SLUA665 "Going to Production With the bq34z1xx".

Unfortunately the "bqTester ROM Imager" from slvc109.zip (bqTester 1.02) doesn't recognize bq34z110 gauge.

I've seen that you may send a newer version of this bqTester on request. May you please send me one?

I added the bq34z110 to the initialization files. Please extract the attached files and place them into your bq Tester directory and see if that helps.

Well, still doesn't work. Now "DataFlash Reader" has my device in the targets list ("bq34z110 v0.04"), but doesn't communicate with it.

When I press "Read Data Flash Image", I get two error messages:
"Communication error reading from Gas Gauge"
and then
"Error reading Data flash:"

bqEVSW works fine.

The bqMTester on the website may not support the bq34z110. Please provide an email address and I will send you a location to download a new version.

Thank you Thomas, the software you sent works fine. Now we are able to read and write ROM files from our bq34z110 gauge.

I'm also using a bq34z110.

And concerning the golden image,
if I try to change the callibration values in BQ eval sw,
I get the message that my parameter isn't within range...
(even if I re-enter the same value)
How do I get around this problem?
Because if I have the average values, I still need to fill them in, in order to get my golden image?

Which calibration parameters are out of range? Are you able to calibrate the parameter using bqStudio?

For example the CC gain and CC offset.
And I use the BQ34Z110, I can only select the BQ34Z100-G1 in Bqstudio...

What values are you trying to write to CC Gain and CC Offset? Can you calibrate the current using the bqEVSW?

I would also recommend that you switch to the bq34z100-G1 firmware. It also supports PbA cells and replaced the bq34z110. The new device offers some IT changes that improve SOC reporting performance.

There is currently something wrong with my test setup, so I can not verify the exact values.
But I remember these values are around 11.078 mOhm?
This is the value that I read out,
and when re-entering the same values, I got the out of range error...

Is it possible to use the rom utillity to load the rom of a bq34z110 in a bq34z100-g1?
Or are they different?
Because my optimized battery characteristics are in the bq34z110....

You should be able to export a gg file from the gauge and update the CC Gain and CC Offset to the new values and then import them back into the gauge. We can try something else, if this does not work.

My test setup is up and running again.
When I re enter the value of 10.254 at CC delta,
I get the message "the value entered is out of limits. Please enter a value between 0.0019 and 0mohm"

When I start battery management studio, it auto detects my device (0110_0_04) (bq34z110 v04).
But I can not select it(not in the list, only the bq34z100-G1). Don't you have a version/update that is compatible with my device?
So I can just use my older BQ34Z110 instead of the new bq34z100-g1 in combination with the battery management studio,
instead of the bqEVSW (since it is already in production).
Because I notice bqEVSW has a few issues...

Which device do you wan to use? The bq34z100-G1 is only supported by bqStudio and the bq34z110 is only supported with the bqEVSW program. You can program your z110 device with the z100-G1 FW using bqStudio, if you want to upgrade the device. Let me know which device to use and I will follow-up with additional instructions.

Hi Tom,

I've taken over the project from Kris and having trouble with the bq tester software. On one PC I have version 2.29 running, but I need to install this software on another PC and can't seem to find this 2.29 version on the TI website. the most recent I've found was 2.01 and didn't support the BQ34Z110. Can you please send me the 2.29 version of the bq tester software to das@dekimo.be.

Hi Tom,

I installed this, but there still seems to be a problem:
On my other PC I’m able to choose Device 110 Version 0.04

While in the copy you gave me I can only choose Device 110 Version 0.01, which is not working for me.
Is there an update available for this?

Did you replace the Targets file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\bq Tester directory with the Targets file from the download? The Targets file from the download supports the bq34z110 v0.04. That is all that I have to support the device.
