LMZ35003 layout

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMZ35003

Hello, in LMZ35003 datasheet and manual it is reported that this device needs some copper areas beneath it.

does the AGND copper area need to be left completely floating ? in the datasheet it's reported that this area will connect to PGND in a single point; is this connection provided internally (connecting both 8 and 9 pins to PGND) ?

So the vias recommended near pin 37 are only thermal ?

Also the area that connects the phase switch nodes (6,7,21,22,23,24,38,41) is to be left floating ?

Thank you

  • Hi Vasco,

All the AGND pins need to be connected externally together (not all AGND nodes werer tied internally) before connecting to PGND throung pin 8 & 9.  This way one can ensure the AGND and PGND be tied at a single point.

The vias around pin 37 are thermal.  You can have an "isolated" AGND copper area to impove the thermal.

All the phase nodes were connected internally and should be left floating externally.

You can also refer to the EVM user guide for more layout recommendations.

    Hope this help.
