BQ24725A handling fast changes in the overall load current

Hello,

My customer is looking into BQ24725A, but he is conserned about how to control the current being used to charge the battery? He read in TI app notes for a different charging IC that the SM Bus charge current command can’t always react quick enough to handle fast changes in the overall system load. Any help will be greatly appretiated.

    Hello Natallia,

    The device feature that would help solve this issue with out any need for host controller intervention is Power Path.

    The feature dynamically adjusts the charging current in response increased demand by the system load to ensure that the system continues to operate.

    A similar charger to the BQ24725A that has Power Path is the BQ24745. However if that does not fit the bill I would recommend looking through parametric search for chargers with Power Path.
