TPS2553 dual limit, with one limit 75mA (ILIM tied to IN)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2553, TINA-TI

Hi, what is the right way to switch the TPS2553 between the nominal 75mA limit, which max's out at 100mA and a higher current limit like 500mA?

I see the circuit diagram in the spec showing the fet switching in a 2nd resistor but this assumes the first current limit is at least 120mA.

I tried in TINA-TI simulating with the switch of a resistor to GND and ILIM otherwise open and this seemed to work,  while the switch was open ILIM is open and current is limited to 75mA,  when the switch is closed I get the higher limit.  But I don't see anything in the datasheet that says this will work hence posting.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Anthony

  • 75mA current limit @ ILIM shorted to IN, in order to get two levle current limit between 75mA and other, need connect ILIM to IN via an switch (PMOS) and an Resistor to GND, when Switch ON, ILIMI shorted to IN, set current limit as 75mA, when switch OFF, current limit depends on the Resistor to GND.
