Hello,

I need a voltage regulator which works 40V at input, and output current of 500mA at least, small package and a voltage output of 5V fixed or adjusted. My main problem is the thermal dissipation with this electrical characteristics of my circuit. I dont know what to use, LDO's or a Simple Switcher one....

What would you recommend me?

Ricardo,

An LDO should not be used because of such high power dissipations under your operation conditions. You will need to look into a switcher.

Please take a look at the Simple Switcher Module LMZ35003, which is an integrated solution.

But i forgot write that the input should be at least 6V in! And this solution doesn´t have it.... Which one could it be?

You can take a look at the LM46002 or the lm3103. Or for a smaller solution the lmr14006 or lmr14206 are very close to what you need

Thanks because of your reply, the references that you has written me, specifically the LM46002 which is the useful to me according to the Vin and the output current is not available on www.Digikey.com which is my enterprise component provider.

I will continue looking for the most useful regulator to my application. .
