For input capacitance, the datasheet for the PTH08T220W power module states:

"The PTH08T220W requires a combination of one 22mF X5R/X7R ceramic and 330mF electrolytic type."

For the electrolytic cap, is it OK to use a 470uF cap in place of 330uF cap as long as all other specs (i.e. ESR, voltage, composition etc.) are satisfied?

Mick:

The input polarized capacitor requirement is a minimum of 220uF with minimum 950mA ripple current (rms) rating when output voltage ≤2.1V and output current ≥11A.

Higher output voltages >2.1V and ouput current > 11amps require a polarized capacitor with 1500uf rms ripple current rating.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the reply. Referring to page 4 of the PTH08T220W datasheet, the minimum nonceramic input capacitance is 330uF. I'm thinking it'd be OK to use a 470uF cap instead, let me know if this assumption is correct.
