Hi,

I'm designing power supply for TFT backlight using TPS61040 and I'm using the design from the datasheet specifically Figure 19 (Positive and Negative Output LCD Bias Supply), but the capacitors used in that design (Tayo Yuden JMK212BY475MG and Tayo Yuden EMK316BJ105KF) is not available anymore, can anybody recommend what is the suitable and available replacement ?

Hey, you can use other caps with same value..it's better to have the DC bias voltage of the caps be 16V or above.

Thanks Jim-Chen,

Another question I have for Figure 19 (from SLVS413F –OCTOBER 2002–REVISED DECEMBER 2010) in mentioned that C2,C3 and C4 is Tayo Yuden EMK316BJ105KF while the value of C2 and C3 is 1uF while C4 is 4.7uF, is this correct or there is mistake in the capacitors value ?.

This should be a typo.The part number could be not right.You should trust the values.

Hi,

I managed to design and etch PCB based on Figure 19 and I've soldered all the component. Attached is the PCB. The only difference is R1 I'm using 100K and R2 is 10K while D1,D2 and D3 I used Schottky Rectifier (part : MBR0530T3G) rated 500mA, 30V.

I used a battery (around 5.6v) and I'm getting reading of 28V. If I look at datasheet page 11 according to the formula the output reading I should be getting is 13V but using my multimeter the voltage I'm getting is 28V, is this correct or has I done something wrong ?

Attach is my schematic. Please ignore R1 that says 150K as I'm using 100K (don't have 150K lying around) :)
