Looking for an automotive DCDC solution >10M units/year

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62130A-Q1, TPS54340-Q1, TPS54360-Q1, TPS54361-Q1, TPS54061-Q1

Hi, I'm looking for 2 dcdc converter solutions. I work for a large automotive electronics manufacturer and we are in the engineering stages for an innovative system architecture for car infotainment. For this project we need 2 dc dc converters with the following specs:

Converter1:

Vin: Car battery 12V

Vout: 6V, current 2.5A

Switching frequency: higher than 2MHz. It might be lower than 2MHz, but then the frequency must be well known or selectable between 2 or more fixed frequencies

Converter2:

Vin: Car battery 12V

Vout: -6V, current 100m

Switching frequency: higher than 2MHz. It might be lower than 2MHz, but then the frequency must be well known or selectable between 2 or more fixed frequencies.

Best regards,

Hans Rosenberg

  • Is the 12V directly fed from the car battery or is it a somewhat regulated 12V supply?  The two necessitate very different power solutions.  I assume you need an automotive qualified device?

The TPS62130A-Q1 should release soon and would be recommended if the 12V was mostly regulated/protected.

It can also provide the -6V, if that is taken from the +6V output.

  • If it will be directly connected to the battery, For the +6V output I suggest looking at the following parts:

    TPS54360-Q1/TPS54340-Q1
    TPS54361-Q1

For the -6V output. although it doesn't support >2MHz. I suggest the following :

    TPS54061-Q1
