USB Charging Port Controllers

Hello,

In one of the product I am using BQ24055DSST for charging the battery. If I plug the charger to PC or AC wall adapter the battery is getting charged with 70mA and 350mA respectively.

In charger IC is detecting the D+ and D- lines and controlling the charger output current. 

Now I want to use a universal charger which will charge the USB device (Phone) as well as my device.

When I Googled I found that different Phone manufacturer are using different type of charger detection method to charge the battery.

Can any one please let me know which USB Charging Port Controllers will be best for my application?

    Hello Sreekanth,

    I am having a little trouble understanding the structure of your application and what part exactly you are looking for.

    Could you provide a block diagram that explains what is happening in your system?

    Right now what it sounds like you are looking for is you have the BQ24055 as your battery charger but you would like to use it with a universal charger that was designed to charge phones. You are looking for a device to perform the port detection and adjust the input current limit.

    The BQ24055 performs this detection to a common standard so if you could help me understand what you are looking for we can see what can be found to fit your application.

    Hello Ryan,

    As different phone manufacturer uses different detecting method for the adapter/USB Charger. In our product we are using a 3W (5V/600mAh) power supply for charging external Phone.

    So I want to to use suitable interface so that our charger will work for almost all the phones, as well as with BQ24055.

    Hello Sreekanth,

    After a quick look through the USB charging port controllers TI has available the most versatile options are the TPS2514 or the TPS2540.

    While you are interested in these parts with the end application of charging batteries on mobile devices the best place for resources and support for these charge port controllers is here:
