bq24610 low-side fault

Hi all.

I'm using bq24610 as in attached schematic. But I have a problem - sometimes low-side NFET and bq24610 faults. I did not install shottky diode in parallel with low-side NFET (VT9 on my schematic).

Is it strongly recommended to add this diode as shown on reference schematic of bq24610?
