BQ51050B recharge control

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ500212A, BQ51050B

I am using BQ51050B receiver/charger together with a BQ500212a transmitter to chareg a battery on my device.

Once charging stops it will not start to recharge again until I remove it and replace it on the charging pad.

This will drain my battery.

Do you have any idea what the problem could be. I have seen a thread about recharge problem but no answer.

Is there a way to externally start the recharging process.

  • Magnus,

The bq51050B will begin recharge when the battery voltage drops below it's threshold (VRECH).  For the bq51050B the spec shows 110mV below the charge termination voltage (4.20V).  Please see the TERMINATION section of the Electrical Characteristics table for detailed information.

    Regards,

    Dick

  • Yes that was my understanding as well, but it will not recharge when it is below the threshold.

Is there any other condition for recharge (beside replacing it on the charge pad)?

I can mention that I don't get at charge complete indication on my transmitter. It just enter standby mode when charging stops.

TS/CTRL has (10k) pull down to GND.

I can see in the specification that:

"When NTC is connected between TS/CTRL pin and the GND, the NTC is function is allowed to operate. If the

TS/CTRL pin is pulled to the battery voltage, the Rx is shutdown with the indication of a charge complete

condition. If the TS-CTRL pin is pulled to GND, The Rx is shutdown with the indication of a fault."
