TLV71318P – About the case that the MOSFET for the discharge function is turned on.

Guru 21045 points

Hi,

I would like to ask the case that the MOSFET for the discharge function is turned on.

Please let me know the following questions.

-----------------------

[Case1]

VIN=VEN=3.0V

I believe that the MOSFET for the discharge is turned off.

Is my understanding correct?

----------

[Case2]

VIN=3.0V , VEN= 0V

I believe that even if the enable pin is not "VEN=3.0V" once, this MOSFET is turned on.

(So, it has been “VEN=0V” since the power up.)

Is my understanding correct?

----------

[Case3]

VIN=0V , VEN=3.0V

I believe that the MOSFET for the discharge is turned off.

Is my understanding correct?

----------

[Case4]

VIN=VEN=0V

I believe that the MOSFET for the discharge is turned off.

Is my understanding correct?

-----------------------

  • Hi Kanemaru,

    Your understanding of the functionality is correct.  To sum up, the FET provides the discharge path when EN is less than 0.4V.  The FET does not provide the discharge path when EN is greater than 0.9V.

    I would also like to point out that while your understanding of Case 3 is correct with regards to the discharge FET, this case as written exceeds the absolute maximum conditions for the EN pin voltage.   The EN pin should never exceed Vin + 0.3 V.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

    Thank you for the information.

    I understood. thank you very much.

  • Hi Ryan,

    I have one more question.

    Could you please confirm whether my recognition is correct, in the following conditions?

    Case5 : VIN is less than UVLO Voltage, VEN is greater than 0.9V (High) Discharge FET is OFF.

    Case6 : VIN is less than UVLO Voltage, VEN is less than 0.4V (Low)    Discharge FET is OFF.

    Regards,

    Kanemaru

  • Hi Kanemaru,

    The discharge FET is off in both cases.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

    Thank you for your immediate reply.

    I understood. thank you very much.

    Regards,

    Kanemaru
