TPS65910A31 PWRON pin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3354, TPS65910

Hi,

I understand that a push button can be connected to the PWRON pin of the PMIC and be used for on/off control.

Additionally, I need a feature on the push button that if the button is held down for 20 seconds, the system should be reset. Can this be achieved by connecting the push button to the PWRON pin of the PMIC? If this is not possible in PMIC, can  it be achieved by any of the pins of the AM3354 processor pin/feature? Or is it necessary to use any external push button controller chip to achieve this functionality.

  • Hi,

It is possibele to achieve this with a PWROn pin, it has a 8 sec long key press feature, when you kkeep the pins low for 8 sec the PMIC will sut down and aother short press after that will wake up the device. we can not achieve 20sec delay with his device.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for the response.

  • Hi

I have the below question regarding the PWRON feature of the PMIC:

    TPS65910 - PMIC Behavior:

    Push Button - Short press

    Push Button - Long press

    Comments

    Off State

    Power ON

    Power ON

    This is OK

ON state - S/W functions normally

Button Pressed < 2 Sec PMIC Interrupt is generated to the Processor and it can do actions like going to Standby/Sleep/Shutdown mode

Button pressed = 6 Sec , PMIC Long Press Interrupt is generated to the Processor and it can do action like going to Standby/Sleep/Shutdown mode

Is it possible to change this to 4 sec from 6 sec??

ON state - S/W hanging state or no response from S/W for Long press

    No Action

Button pressed  ≥ 8Sec  and if no response from Processor PMIC Shutdown the power

There is no option to Restart the processor through push button Long Press.

Instead of shutdown is it possible to change the behavior of PMIC to give Power on reset to the processor when button is pressed > 6 sec?

Please  help in clarifying the above points in the "comments" column.

    Thanks!
