TPS2546 for OTG function

Hi Sir

            I want use TPS2546 for USB OTG port. We setting CDP mode in OTG host mode.

IF we change to Device mode , How to setting TPS2546 on this mode?

I thnik Device mode , We need disable TPS2546 Power output. but CDP or SDP mode can be pass DP DM single to host. Please help , Thank you so much

    Hi Kerr,

    Could you please introduce what kind of application or device you are working on? (Laptop, Adapter, Host and Hubs, or something else)

    For both CDP and SDP mode of TPS2546, data communication will be available during connection.

    The difference between these two mode is: SDP only support data communication with 0.5A/0.9A output current; CDP can support 1.5A output charging current as well as data communication at the same time. (You can find this on page 16 of TPS2546 datasheet.)

    Hi Sir

    our application is tablet . we have 1 OTG USB port and we want use TPS2546 on this port.

    When tablet connector to USB Device , Tablet will be srtting to USB Host [ This mode use TPS2546 will be fine ]

    When system connector to PC HOST , Tablet will be setting to Deivce mode(usb storage) , we need cut power out in this time , but USB need keep Communicate with PC USB host. I don`t know TPS2546 can support this function?

    Hi Kerr,

    TPS2546 is a USB charging part, which is always used in the host USB port to manage the charging mode. I'm not very sure whether there will be problem if it is used in the slave device.

    I'll check this with senior engineers and return back the answer when I get it.

    Hello, in your application, you need to insert a power switch between TPS2546 output to the USB port.

    1. When your tablet works as a host, the power switch need to be turned on;

    2. When your tablet works as a slave, the power switch need to be turned off, at the same time, TPS2546 is configured in SDP/CDP mode, to ensure the communication between PC and your tablet.
