BQ51050B possible typo

Hi,

Please take a look at the question below:

in the "pin functions" section of the datasheet for the BQ51050 the TS/CTRL pin says "As a CTRL pin pull to ground to send end power transfer (EPT) fault to the transmitter or pull-up to an internal rail (i.e. 1.8 V) to send EPT termination to the transmitter." If I'm reading that correctly, it's saying both high and low give the same result -- EPT. Is that an error in the datasheet?

  • Roger,

Both conditions send the EPT.  The difference is in what message is sent with the End Power Transfer note.  Table 1 in the datasheet shows that the TS/CTRL = 1 condition will send message "Charge Complete" with a value of "0x01".  The TS/CTRL < 100mV (Ground) EPT will send message "Over Temperature" with a value of "0x03".

    Regards,

    Dick
