LM26480, suitable for Xilinx FPGA ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM26480

Hi,  we are using Artix-7 FPGA for our recent project. In order to supply FPGA and implement power-up/down sequencing we decided to go for LM26480. I made connections as follows:

1.5A DC-DC for 1V FPGA Core voltage

300 mA LDOs for 3.3V and 1.8V FPGA IO Voltages.

I didn't use the second DC-DC. FPGA core voltage tolerances is  0.95V-1.05V and 1.8V IO voltage tolerance is 1.71V-1.89V. 3 percent accuracy in datasheet may reduce 1.8V to 1.746V which is inside my voltage tolerance. My question is that would a harsher environment could risk voltage stability of my FPGA ?

Thanks in advance for responses.

  • hi, not sure what you mean by "harsher environment". is core always running at 1.5A DC? or pulsing load? there should be no stability issue if the operating within datasheet..

  • No,  our FPGA will draw close 1A most of the times at 1V. Let me clarify my question; LDOs have the following graphs in the datasheet :

These guarantee that my output will not swing more than 1 percent during the entire operating temperature range. But there is no such a graph for buck converters. Could voltage change of buck outputs exceed datasheet specified 3 percent at any temperature between -40/85 degrees ? My harsh environment is mainly temperature and i am afraid to go outside FPGA's recommended core voltage region.

  • Hi, I will check with our product team to see if the 3% is guaranteed over temp.. stay tuned
