TPS79730 old and new datasheets are different in current rating

a customer is confused and has a question on TPS79730.

SLVS332B- March 2001- Revised June 2001 dated data sheet shows that it is 10mA part.

one released Nov 2009 shows that it is  50mA part.

Is there any change in the silicon between Jun 2001 and Nov. 2009?

  • I don't know the history for this part but I do see from the web that the TPS797xx is offered now in two versions.  The EP version is screened to meet stricter automotive requirements but is only rated for 10mA load currents.  The 50mA part meets more standard  requirements without the "Enhanced" specifications.
